What kind of scanner is best to use for slides...The flat bed or handheld.?
I want to convert approx 800 slides to dvd. They are quite old and most of my mom and brother who passed away. I want good quality pic but i am not so good on computer. What should I buy, a flatbed or one of those plustek opticfilms or one of the cheaper handhelds? Thank you I would appreciate any feedback.
Flatbed is the way to go. The HP G-3110 or G4010 can scan 12 slides at a time, hassle-free. The problem with handheld scanners is that you need a steady hand to begin with and secondly, the scan has to be smooth and even. Not an easy task and for the price of the cheapest HP, it is almost the same as the handheld but way better.

I personally love the G-4010 because it scans in legal format as well.
